Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman. With Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Noel Fisher. The plot is unknown at this time.

Pictures send word that ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ will now hit theaters on August 8th, 2014, two months later than originally planned. Paramount has good reason for moving the CGI/live-action hybrid, which Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is producing. This summer, the box office saw a glut of family movies, resulting in diminished returns for a number of films. Had it stuck to its original June 6th, 2014 release date, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ would have opened only a week after Disney and Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’ (May 30th) and two weeks before Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2′ (June 20th). While ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ has far more action than traditional animated movies and could even receive a PG-13 rating, it’s still making an aggressive family play.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ also gets out of the way of Paramount and Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers 4,’ which opens on June 27th (the previous Transformers films have all opened on a Wednesday, so it’s likely that Paramount will move up the release of the fourth installment by two days to June 25th). Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the film is based on the characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ stars Megan Fox in the role of April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, Danny Woodburn as Master Splinter, and William Fichtner as Shredder.

If I Stay, based on Gayle Foreman's best-selling 2009 novel, stars Chloe Moretz as a 17-year-old girl who slips into a coma and has an out-of-body experience after her family is involved in a tragic car accident.

Warner Bros. is now distributing the film along with MGM, after picking up the film from previous studio Summit Entertainment. Filming on If I Stay began back in late October.

The game sold over a million copies, and was one of the cinematic powerhouses that helped showcase the PS3′s impressive capabilities, but since its release it has been one of the few games that never made the transition into becoming a multi-platform franchise. That changes now, however, as Heavenly Sword is moving from the game console to your home theater (or computer) screen with an upcoming CGI animated feature, which you can check out in the trailer above

This isn’t the first time Heavenly Sword has appeared in animated form; a series of five traditionally-animated shorts were released prior to, and following, the game’s release; they served as a prequel saga, detailing where the sword is from, Nariko’s warrior training, the rise of King Bohan, etc. This animated feature will presumably retell the story of the actual game in cinematic form, and will bring back original Nariko voice actress Anna Torv – best known as Agent Dunham on Fringe. The intriguing and controversial premise of this year’s summer horror The Purge drew enough moviegoers into theaters for the film to make make 12 times its original production budget in the opening weekend alone, so it came as no surprise that Universal Pictures swiftly green-lit a sequel

The first film is based in an alternate version of America where crime, poverty and unemployment are kept under control by an annual Purge: a period of 12 hours during which all crime is legal and citizens are free to take violent revenge on their enemies, or simply let loose and live out their most sadistic and rage-filled fantasies. The wealthy can afford high-tech security to keep the riff-raff out of their homes, while the lower classes are culled in the chaos

A press release from Universal Pictures states that “the next chapter of ‘The Purge’ ” (no official sequel title given) will be out in theaters on June 20th, 2014. Like the first film, the sequel will be written, directed and produced by James DeMonaco through Jason Blum’s production company Blumhouse and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes

The news more or less confirms that The Purge 2 will in fact be titled The Zone, as this is the name of the film that DeMonaco is set to begin filming in mid-December. Blumhouse needed to get The Purge 2 into production in California by the end of the year in order to receive a $2.25 million tax credit from the state, and with a summer 2014 release date, there’s very little time to be wasted getting The Purge 2 in the can

Lilting is a touching, intimate film about finding the things which bring us together. In contemporary London, a Cambodian Chinese mother mourns the untimely death of her son. Her world is further disrupted by the presence of a stranger. We observe their difficulties in trying to connect with one another without a common language, as through a translator they begin to piece together memories of a man they both loved
